- SynopsisComedy. With the supposedly great French detective (actually a clueless, clumsy dolt) Chief Inspector Jacques Clouseau missing, it is decided that Interpol's computer will be programmed to select the world's best detective to go in search of him. Fearing that the catastrophic Clouseau will be found, his old boss, Chief Inspector Charles Dreyfus, secretly programs the computer to find instead the world's worst detective, who turns out to be the willing but extremely unable Sergeant Clifton Sleigh, a US third-generation police detective of exceptional haplessness. His investigation takes him from Paris to Nice, Valencia and Mallorca, where he fails to discover that Clouseau has turned to crime, teamed up with the cunning Countess Chandra, had plastic surgery and now has the face of a world-famous film star. Numerous attempts on Sleigh's life come to nothing, except harm to the perpetrators, including the despairing Dreyfus. (Synopsis)
